Terms & conditions
Last updated: October 2, 2026.
DarkTales is a personal horror-fiction project. By using this website you agree to these terms. The plain-English version: read, enjoy, don't steal.
What DarkTales is
Every story here began as a real person's story shared publicly on Reddit, and is retold in our own words with credit and a link to the original author. We don't claim ownership of the original stories, and retelling doesn't transfer any rights to us or to you.
What you may do
You may read, share links to, and download wallpapers and the free Red Room e-book for personal use.
What you may not do
You may not republish DarkTales stories, illustrations, or wallpapers elsewhere — commercially or otherwise — without permission, scrape the site with automated tools at abusive rates, or use the site in any way that breaks the law. The takedown policy in the About page explains how copyright holders can request removal.
Newsletter and free e-book
The newsletter and the Red Room e-book are free. Subscribing stores your email address so new-story emails can reach you; every email carries an unsubscribe link. Download tokens are personal to you — please don't share them publicly.
No accounts, no guarantees
DarkTales has no user accounts. The site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We may change or remove content at any time.
Content warning
DarkTales publishes horror fiction intended for adult readers. Some stories contain graphic or disturbing content.
Changes
If these terms change, the updated version will be posted here with a new "last updated" date.
